THE FIRST ARMENIAN WILL BE BORN IN 2005

December 16,2004 00:00

Our
legislators consider that in whose birth certificate isn’t mentioned the word
"Armenian" they aren’t Armenians. The NA accepted the recurrent
"national" law by the influence of "Public pressure": the
new-born child will get birth certificate where besides his name and surname,
information about parents the nationality will also be mentioned. The nationality
hasn’t been mentioned either in the Soviet period or later. According to the law
"About statement of civil position" is determined to mention not only
the nationality of parents but also his own in the birth certificate. We must
remind the Ministry of Justice was against this statement considering it as the
infringement of child’s right. The Ministry of Justice is based on the international
experience: the nationality of a child isn’t mentioned in any birth certificate
of European country or CIC countries. But the figures "imbued by national
ideology" began to fight against the Ministry of Justice. The "Orinats
erkir" and ARF also joint and won in fact. Those who are for mentioning the
nationality in birth-certificates brought a lot of sensible arguments: "It
is inconveniently to speak about child’s rights in the country where children
don’t go to school for difficult social conditions", "the parents of
the child must decide his nationality and not the Ministry of Justice", "this
is a juda-masonic conspiracy" etc. They proclaimed "Children will be
born in the RA who don’t have nationality soon". If it is so both the
RA teenager and adult citizens aren’t Armenians. As our nationality hasn’t been
mentioned in our birth certificates. What is then, let sit and wait when the first
Armenian will be born. And what about the child one of whose parents aren’t Armenian
and he growing up won’t want to have anything general with Armenians and Armenia?
But nationality is simply mentioned in his birth certificate. The example of the
same Kirkorov: we called him Armenian but now we are shamed by his behavior. Or
Andre Aghasi who astonish hearing the word "Armenian". What may make
them to feel themselves Armenians if they don’t want it even if we tattoo the
word "Armenian" on their foreheads? And the opposite the same Russian,
Greek, Asorian who live in our country and speak Armenian, love our homeland and
nation, live by our habits, are much more Armenians than the above mentioned.
They brought another argument that mentioning the nationality will help to
save Armenians. It’s too disputable. Just imagine a child is born in Armenia whose
mother is Russian /Greek, Judas etc./and father Armenian. And they must mention
the nationality in the birth certificate. Let’s agree that a lot of fathers will
be ready to mention the nationality of their wives considering it will help their
children to leave Armenia, to become the citizen’s of that country, to get rid
of serving in the Armenian Army later. On the other hand this law has no relation
with Armenian children of the Armenian Diaspora, as the nationality isn’t mentioned
in abroad. Even the nationality of child’s parents isn’t mentioned in some countries,
the citizenship is only mentioned. We mustn’t forget that the birth certificate
isn’t an identification document but it is only fixes the birth of a new people.
The life has showed the citizenship is much more important which strengthens the
relations between the state and person. Once Charles Aznavour answering to a journalist’s
question " are you Armenian or Frenchman" said: "As it is impossible
to separate the milk from coffee in the coffee with milk I can’t separate it as
well". By the way both his parents are Armenians. Melanya
