The Statue of Gagik Martirosyan’s Grandfather Is Finished

The statue of famous humorist Garik Martirosyan’s grandfather stands in the front yard of No. 5 School in Ijevan. The name of Mkrtich Martirosyan who was granted a title of Teacher Emeritus of Armenia in 1960 is engraved on the statue.

Mikayel Martirosyan, Mkrtich Martirosyan’s grandson, Garik Martirosyan’s cousin and an assistant to the governor of Tavush, told us that the process of naming No. 5 School in Ijevan after Mkrtich Martirosyan was over.

We asked whether the opening ceremony of the statue would take place on September 1. Mikayel Martirosyan said that it would take place later, the day of the event was under discussion and it depended on when the guests would arrive.
