“I think that it is not right to scapegoat some rector’s assistant who wasn’t able to restrain himself at that moment due to his emotional condition,” Armen Ashotyan says

Talking about the statement of Gevorg Melkonyan, the YSU rector’s assistant, about fielding the “army,” which he had made during the student demonstration, Armen Ashotyan, the Minister of Education and Science whom journalists “caught” after a Cabinet meeting, said: “I think that it is not right to scapegoat some rector’s assistant who wasn’t able to restrain himself at that moment due to his emotional condition.” In response to a question whether there was an army in Yerevan State University, the minister said: “Are there slaves in YSU? I want neither an army nor slaves to be there. There is no army, let alone slaves. Did you see an army there? ‘Army’ was a word that was used at that moment due to an emotional condition, and it was used incorrectly.” Mr. Ashotyan called for being tolerant in both real and virtual life and not insulting each other.
