In which matters does the RA opposition fail?

February 27,2014 14:16

“The RA opposition fails in the matters of organization, lack of strategic vision, and leadership-related issues,” so opines Richard Kirakosyan, Director of Center for Regional Studies, referring to the RA opposition’s activities. To the questions whether these problems might be corrected in the upcoming March 1 rally, Mr. Kirakosyan so responded, “I am disappointed, because neither the authorities nor the opposition learn lessons from the events in Ukraine.” We asked the political scientist Ruben Mehrabyan whether the opposition of Armenia is truly failing in the matters related to organization, lack of strategic vision and leadership. He replied. “The reasons are very many, but the main problem is to what extent the opposition is opposition and it is the opposition for the sake of what.

The answers to these questions either are missing or are in an unclear form that is equal to missing. In that case, it is clear that the actions and activities have such unclear character, which most importantly has nothing to do with the citizens’ real needs and interests. We have no agenda.” We asked whether it is possible that the agenda will be formed in the upcoming rally, Mr. Mehrabyan so responded, “I do not see any grounds for it taking into consideration the organizers who are organizing this rally. Why should the individuals having done nothing until now be miraculously changed? Miracles do not happen, there are regularities.” In conclusion, Mr. Mehrabyan said, “The authorities should not halt feeling the civil society’s pressure over them.”
