The Armenian opera singer “got a share” from Aliyev’s money

October 30,2014 13:38

Recently, Armenia represented by the opera tenor Liparit Avetisyan, was firstly attending the 3rd International Competition for young singers named after Muslim Magomayev, which was held in Moscow under the patronage of the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

Fourteen singers from nine countries out of 200 artists submitting request-application to the competition were granted the right for participation. In the conversation with “Aravot,” Liparit Avetisyan said that in the previous two competitions conducted by 2 rounds, the winners were determined in the result of two days. He has scored 302 points in the result of two-day performances (on the 1st day – 146 points, on the 2nd day – 156), which implies the first prize. But the jury, which was headed by Magomayev’s widow, the famous opera singer Tamara Sinyavskaya, seeing that the Armenian-origin singer is in the first place, changes the Charter on the spot by taking only the point of the second day as a base. As a result, the first prize was awarded to the representative of Mongolia, the second to Armenia and the third to Azerbaijan. And this is in the event when the organizing committee of the competition, allegedly standing above the politics, for the first time applied to the Armenian Ministry of Culture with a request to send a participant from Armenia. To the point, the prizes were also in the form of bonus, and the second prize “was worth” of 15,000 US dollars.
