Gagik Yeganyan. “A comfortable situation is created for the citizen of Armenia in Russia”

March 10,2015 13:36

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the law on ratifying the agreement signed between the Governments of Armenia and Russia on “The Procedures of the stay of the Citizens of Armenia located in the territory of Russian Federation and the Citizens of the Russian Federation located in the territory of Armenia”. According to this agreement, the Russian citizens on territory visit to Armenia and the citizens of Armenia on temporary visit to Russia are exempt from the requirement to be registered at the competent bodies within 30 days.

In this regard, Aravot.am talked to the Head of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Emergency Situations State Migration Service Gagik Yeganyan. He noted that this ratification cannot effect the growth of the flow of Armenian citizens travelling to the Russian Federation. “This agreement just says that if earlier these people were to be registered within 30 days, now, a longer time period is given to them. A more comfortable situation is created for our citizen. In addition to this registration, he had other work to do and he could have tension on these days.”

To the question of Aravot.am of whether after this agreement he thinks that the Russian citizens’ flow to Armenia will possibly increase, Gagik Yeganyan replied, “Simply, the mutual visits both for Russians and Armenians would be flexible for the beginning. I cannot tell to what it will contribute. Associating it with the flow of tourist or migrant workers is not appropriate.”
