The head of the delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe Geir Jorgen Bekkevold welcomes the contribution of new technologies in parliamentary elections of the Republic of Armenia on April 2, simultaneously speaking of the issues: “There was tension nearby polling stations and there were queues of voters. OSCE calls on to take those shortcomings into consideration”, he announced during the meeting with the Armenian media.
The head of the delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Liliane Maury Pasquier emphasized that there’s no doubt that before these elections the RA authorities have endeavored to reform the election process, but the election legislation is complex: “One cannot regain voters’ trust solely by utilization of technical equipment. The election climate hasn’t been satisfactory. Pressures have been put on people. For example – they’ve tried to persuade that the elector’s vote will be disclosed. Fear and disappointment appeared to be stronger than hope”.
