Aaron Adibekyan: ‘A drowning man will clutch at a straw, ‘Yelq’ is the straw.’

April 08,2017 03:35

“1/3 of the active electors voted for the ruling Republican Party of Armenia”, said sociologist Aaron Adibekyan, referring to the parliamentary elections, during the press conference. He noted that the slogan of the Republican Party was in line with the expectations of the 1/3 of the active voters: “let there be a stable situation, safety and a little bit of progress will do no harm to us.”

Referring to “Tsarukyan” alliance, Aaron Adibekyan said that during the previous elections the “Prosperous Armenia” party had received 30 percent of the votes, which has decreased by three percent, meaning that its electorate has decreased by 10 percent: “His 15 billion probably have not believed, because those who understood it, realized that one cannot solve the problems of Armenia with $15 billion. Though, during the period of independence investments worth $18-20 billion have entered Armenia mainly from Russia.”

The journalists asked the sociologist also to address the two other parties that have entered the parliament. Speaking about the Armenian Revolutionary Federation, Adibekyan said that the party had a clear organizational resource and was the only party that kept the party structure.

But Aaron Adibekyan did not want to address “Yelq”, and when journalists insisted, he told the story of the driver that he was familiar with: “A taxi driver told me that he had taken money from the two parties, but he voted for the third one. I said, “Who have you voted for?” he said, “I picked one by chance, ticked and left.” This is why they say that bribery has no role. A drowning man will clutch at a straw, “Yelq” is the straw.”
