Sculptor Ferdinand Arakelyan told Aravot.am that it is important for him that mayor of Yerevan is born and raised in the city: “If a person is not from Yerevan how can he know the city? The city has its own traditions, residents of Yerevan know it. A city is a very hard mechanism, and only a proficient person can be mayor. Otherwise random people are being elected and that is why we are in this situation.”
To our question, it means that who is not from Yerevan, cannot be Yerevan mayor candidate, Ferdinand Arakelyan answered: “He can, but anyway it would be better that the candidate is from Yerevan. It is the same as city resident goes to the village and controls it when he is not aware of the village. How could it happen? The city should have an urban project, geographical-economical growth, there are also ecological issues. A person who is not aware of these issues cannot solve city’s problems.”
