“In response to Azerbaijan’s provocation, the Armenian side with its disproportionate actions had the problem to destroy the firing point from which the Azerbaijani side fired at the Armenian positions. The Armenian side successfully implemented that, but the incident once again underlines the fact that the Azerbaijani army places its fire points in its own villages. Naturally, Azerbaijan has to take the responsibility for the deaths of soldiers and civil society”, said politician Narek Minasyan, referring to the July 4 Azerbaijani provocation on the Artsakh-Azerbaijan border, and the following response given by the Armenian side.

He stated that Azerbaijan was trying to exert pressure on Armenia in the negotiation process by border incidents in recent months, in which it could not succeed, “In fact, the plans of the Azerbaijani side once again failed yesterday. However, Azerbaijan has started a very active information campaign, manipulating the factor of the death of two civilians, and trying to influence the international community that way”.

The politician also touched upon the OSCE Minsk Group’s statement on the incident, by which the co-chairs urge the sides to stop military operations, “This indicates that the introduction of investigative mechanisms is particularly important and necessary at this time. They are not a substitute for political negotiations, but are essential. If the St. Petersburg and Vienna agreements do not come to life, such border incidents, to which the non-targeted statements are not preventive, will continue”.

Narek Minasyan at the same time mentioned that the Armenian side should be more consistent in promoting the implementation of the mentioned agreements, “Azerbaijan will try to avoid it”.
