Russia’s State Duma spokesman suggests making Russian the official language of Armenia

July 18,2017 10:25

The spokesman of Russia’s State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin has suggested the Armenian authorities to give Russian a status of an official language in Armenia so that the national driving licenses are recognized in Russia as well, writes TASS.

June 1, 2017 onwards, a law has turned into force in Russia which bans the drivers having foreign driving licenses to work in the territory of that country. Moreover, on July 14, the State Duma has adopted one more bill wherewith the citizens of Kirgizstan (where Russian has a status of an official language) are allowed to work as a professional driver in the territory of Russia.

“I can only say one thing, stipulate it (Russian) as an official language and the norm of the law will automatically include the Republic of Armenia”, announced Volodin during the meeting with the spokesman of the Parliament of Armenia, Ara Babloyan.
