Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia considers it unacceptable to hinder Narine Ghalechyan’s journalistic activities, a journalist in “Azatutyun” radio station. Any person committing such an act is subject to liability.
According to the reporter, during the shooting about the mobile gas stations in Sevan town, a young man who came out of one of the stations quickly chased her. The latter stopped shooting and got into the car. Then, the young man started kicking and punching the car of the shooting crew.
Based on the information on hindering the journalist’s activities, the Human Rights Defender Office has started a discussion procedure on the own initiative.
A corresponding letter was sent immediately to the police to initiate proceedings.
