568 000 AMD needed per person for a very good life in Armenia: ‘168 hours’

The National Statistical Service had conducted a survey to find out how much money is needed to live a good life or to make both ends meet according to the citizens of the Republic of Armenia.

The averaged results of the survey entail: in Armenia for living a very good life, 568 000 AMD is necessary for per person, for living a good life – 251 000 AMD, for surviving – 96 000 AMD. That is, 384 000 AMD monthly income is needed for the 4-member family to make both ends meet. And this means, if both spouses work, the salary of each of them should be around 192 000 AMD.

Pursuant to the most fresh data of the official statistics – in Armenia the average monthly nominal salary in August of this year has amounted to exactly 192 000 AMD.  Moreover, in private sector – 225,3 k AMD, in state sector – 163,5 k. That is, the average salary of the state sector is not enough even to be able to make both ends meet. Moreover, in some fields (for example – education) the average salary is much lower.

Can we entitle this a “job”? According to some people – yes, according to some other people – no.
