June 08,2018 19:07

As part of the EU’s Sustainable Energy Week 2018 in Armenia, the Yerevan Energy Efficiency project will be presented at an event on 8 June.

The event has been organised by the European Investment Bank (EIB) in association with the Municipality of Yerevan and the EU Delegation to Armenia, which is a main contributor of the Eastern Europe Energy Efficiency and Environmental Partnership (E5P) fund.

The event will take place in a kindergarten in the Armenian capital of Yerevan that will be made more energy efficient through renovations under the project. The project foresees that over 140 kindergartens in Armenia will benefit from renovations, such as comprehensive energy efficiency retrofitting and refurbishment of buildings. In parallel, an interactive training is planned for young people on ways to save energy in everyday life.

The event will also be combined with the signing of the E5P Grant Agreement for €5 million, to support the Municipality of Yerevan in their efforts to introduce advanced energy efficiency technologies.

The EU Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) is taking place this year between 4 and 8 June, with the theme ‘Lead the clean energy transition’. EUSEW brings together public authorities, private companies, NGOs and consumers to promote initiatives to save energy and move towards renewables for clean, secure and efficient power. In addition to multiple events in Brussels, a number of Energy Days are being organised all over Europe, including in the Eastern Partner countries – Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine – giving citizens and businesses the opportunity to discover the latest developments in sustainable energy.
