June 08,2018 17:41

The super-Prime Minister’s system in Armenia must be abolished. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan told this in an interview at the parliament.

Earlier, President Armen Sarkissian spoke about the unequal distribution of power in Armenia. Nikol Pashinyan said that the super-Prime Minister’s system will be abolished, but the power will not be distributed equally.

He brought the examples of Germany, and Britain, and said: “There should be someone responsible for the power. If anybody speaks of an equal distribution of power, he speaks of the non-existence of power”.

Nikol Pashinyan stressed that the practice of appointing ambassadors in accordance with the political expediency should be strictly reviewed. One of the journalists asked whether Mikayel Minasyan will be called back. “This is not about individuals, but principals”, said the Prime Minister.

Journalists also inquired about the demand for the resignation of the Catholicos. Nikol Pashinyan did not answer the question, saying that the church is separate from the state.

He also said that in his telephone conversation with Artsakh State Minister Arayik Harutyunyan he did not urge him to resign. He heard of Arayik Harutyunyan’s possible resignation, called and inquired whether there was a reason for the Armenian authorities to worry. Arayik Harutyunyan assured that there are no such issues behind his resignation.

Whatever takes place in Artsakh, according to Nikol Pashinyan, completely fits within the Constitution of Artsakh. He believes that this logic will continue.

Journalists also inquired about the arbitration of the MPs for “Noradus Alik” criminal authority. It was initiated by Sasun Mikayelyan, a member of the “Yelq” faction. Nikol Pashinyan said that he had talked with Sasun Mikayelyan noting it was a very bad initiative.
