March 21,2019 13:03

On 19 March, the EU, in partnership with the Tumo Centre for Creative Technologies, launched in Armenia the EU TUMO Convergence Centre for Engineering and Applied Science.

The centre will be a hub for research, education and startups, bringing together local and international partners to bridge the gap between higher education and industry in the country.

Close to 15,000 square metres of building space will be constructed in Yerevan. The campus will include infrastructure for educational programming such as TUMO labs, a research laboratory, a conference centre and revenue-generating commercial space to ensure the centre’s long-term financial sustainability.

Commenting on the event, Carlos Moedas, European Commissioner in charge of Research, Science and Innovation, said: “It is vital for the economy of the future that the young people of today have access to the best science, technology, engineering and mathematics education. […] EU TUMO Convergence Centre makes this happen.”
