May 16,2019 20:45

The US Ambassador to Armenia, Lynne Tracy, spoke to reporters during a briefing about the Amulsar project on May 15th. She said, “I think that it is important for us to work together with the government for business and investments in order to create a transparent and beneficial environment. Not only is that important for American business, but for investors in general. With regards to Lydian, it is one of the international investors, and it is important that international investors work in accordance with local laws. The case is being studied currently and the results are important. It is important for there to be a fast and productive resolution in similar circumstances.”

When asked about how it was expected for there to be a lot of support from America after the revolution and why it seems there wasn’t any support over the past year, the ambassador said, “Let me start by saying that the US has expressed its support for changes in Armenian democracy and economic development, and since 1992 the US has provided $2 billion in aid to Armenia, to Armenian independence, and to self-government. We will continue to make investments in Armenia. And the agreements which were signed within the framework of Armenian-American strategic dialogue prove that.”

The ambassador added that the embassy will continue to examine what areas need American support the most. “We organize work with our donors so that the finances are spend effectively, and so that people in Armenia will be assured that these finances are serving their purpose,” Lynne Tracy said.
