‘We call ourselves proud citizens after losing our territories and leaving our soldiers’ bodies there… pride is a sin’: Dadivank Monastery Abbot

December 05,2020 20:13

A gathering titled “Armenia Without Nikol” commenced on Freedom Square demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

The abbot of Dadivank, Ter Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, said in his speech that it is sad that we consider ourselves to be proud citizens when we lost our territories in Artsakh and our soldiers’ bodies were left in the territories that are now under Azerbaijani control.

“Pride is a sin. Today, many countries and superpowers that are not in a state of war do not consider themselves to have proud citizens. But we call ourselves proud citizens after losing our territories and leaving our soldiers’ bodies there. I know that you are here to raise your fair voices, but there are people who want to turn all of this into a fight. If such people are here, come back tomorrow and the next day. We will gather and go where we need to fight, to the border where the enemy is waiting for us. We need to clean our country. This is only the beginning. Turks walk around near the walls of Dadivank,” the priest said, calling upon citizens to avoid dividing themselves among black and white, residents of Artsakh and residents of Armenia, since everyone is an Armenian.
