We can talk about compromise when we receive a clear message from Azerbaijan that Baku is ready to recognize the right to self-determination of Artsakh’s people. Newly-elected Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinayn announced during a press conference in Stepanakert, Artsakh.

He mentioned that the negotiations do not hinder serious efforts which will multiply the international recognition of Artsakh. The international community must very clearly state that the essence of Artsakh conflict is the issue of protection of human rights.

“This conflict is not a territory conflict. This conflict arose when Armenians of Artsakh decided to defend their elemental rights as Azerbaijan not only was not able to ensure the rights of the Armenian population of Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Oblast but also created a threat to their right to life and identity. Those threats were not verbally expressed and were expressed by concrete actions – by military actions against peaceful population,” said Prime Minister.

Referring to the revolution in Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan emphasized that the movement did not and does not have any geopolitical context, there has was no geopolitical agenda, moreover a conspiracy. According to him, this fact rules out any comparison with processes in other countries.

“Serzh Sargsyan, who resigned under the national pressure, is still in the Republic of Armenia. This is also exceptional: I am happy about that and in my opinion that is the privilege of our movement because we did not aim to draw new lines of hostility in Armenia but to remove the existing lines and to create an atmosphere of solidarity,” said Pashinyan.
