“Hamo of Bangladesh” was taken into custody

Today, on January 18, by the decision of an investigator of the Arabkir investigation unit of the police main department of investigations, 48-year-old Ashot Aveisyan was taken into custody. As Gagik Shamshyan informed Aravot.am, Ashot Avetisyan who lives at 68 Isakov Avenue, works as the director of  “Neptune” LLC.

He was brought to the Arabkir unit by the officers of the Arabkir unit of the police at midnight alleged to have committed hooliganism.

The photojournalist informed that today at around 12.15am at the crossroads of Komitas and Griboyedov streets VAZ 2107 with 10ՏՕ737 license plate 31-year-old Gagik Nazaryan, a resident of the region of Armavir, was driving ran into BMW X-6 with 08ՈՕ888 license plate Ashot Avetisyan was driving.

The people gathered at the crime scene told that after the crash A. Avetisyan get out of the car and started to beat up G. Nazaryan cursing him. The latter got body injuries. When the police officers tried to take Avetisyan to the police station, he didn’t yield.

Ashot Avetisyan was taken into custody and taken to the prevention-detention cell of the police department of the city ofYerevan.

He is better known to the public by nickname “Hamik of Bangladesh” and particularly after he threw eggs at Artashes Geghamyan, along with a group of skinheads, during National Unity rally on April 5, 2004 and broke photo and video cameras of the journalist who were shooting all that and harassed them. Both at that time and afterwards, for participating in “razborka” (shoot-out) in “Tetsi krug”, Ashot Avetisyan received just formal punishments. And in 2011, onTigran Mets Avenue, he ran a citizen over who died and he fled from the crime scene. And he was only fined for that.

Let us also add that according to our information, Ashot Avetisyan was returning from Batum toYerevan.
