Assures political analyst Levon Shirinyan

In the conversation with “Aravot”, political analyst Levon Shirinyan referred to the unity of the Armenian nation and the elements disturbing thereof. In response to our observation, judging by our demand of April 24 and the universal desire of the Armenian nations living in different countries of the world about whether we can say that the Armenian nation has the desire to be united, become a strong and sustainable country, Levon Shirinyan said as follows: “Yes, definitely. The fact that there is a desire, it is for sure, the desire is great, however, there are obstacles, in other words, the obstructers are those who have benefit from the disorder, weak state and backwardness, but this is not a national interest, these are corporate interests. One could also say that the obstructer is the tribal relations. We lack in one thing and the whole world should know this: we are unable to give way to our worthy, this culture is missing among Armenians. The tradition prevents us. We regularly listen from different officials, yes, what can we do, the legislation is European, we are the traditional people, aren’t we? In other words, allegedly, we are corrupt, or what is meant by saying, we are traditional. This traditionalism is said to justify the situation.”

Levon Shirinyan talking about the centenary of the Armenian Genocide said that every celebration and occasion has its own advice. He is bewildered, “No other nation in the world marks such an anniversary: to be massacred and to mark the centenary. The Armenian nation needs to understand one thing that it has no friendly people in the world, and thus perform a mourning ceremony and appear in confusion, because during the crisis, no one will stand beside them like it happened in 1914.” Where is the problem hidden?, asks Levon Shirinyan and answers, “Our nation should become self-organized and have willingness, each one should not push his relative forward but the one who is worthy like it is in the European culture. We need to know that our security depends only on us and no one will stretch its hand to help us, neither Poland nor Putin. We need to analyze and be able to form a new elite and give way to the true elite groups rather than sitting on the top and preventing them.” Levon Shirinyan’s desire is the following: our nation needs to have a decent living, and decent living, according to him, “is not getting along.” In his words, it is widely spread among Armenians to answer to the question of “how are you?” “I am getting along”. And what is “getting along”? Or, what do you mean by saying a survival strategy?”
