‘I am incompatible with Russian direction’:  Bakhshyan regarding withdrawal from “Heritage”

January 18,2017 07:37

Anahit Bakhshyan, a member of Yerevan City Council, deputy director of the National Institute of Education, in an interview with Aravot.am, substantiated her decision to withdraw from the “Heritage” party.  “I have enrolled the “Heritage” party as pro-Western values holder and a political force leading Armenia in this direction.  Today and one year ago, the discussions of the “Heritage” were held with such political forces that the pro-Western line was highly questioned.  I just consider myself incompatible with that direction – the Russian direction,” said Mrs. Bakhshyan to us.

She highlighted that now “Heritage” is negotiating, for example, with Vartan Oskanian and Seyran Ohanyan.  “They are Russian direction holders, especially Seyran Ohanyan.  I do not want to accept this direction on me and do not want to “walk in the foot” with them.  If the “Heritage” is heading in that direction, I am not coming and I do not want to be a member of any political party,” concluded Anahit Bakhshyan.

“Heritage” is an Armenian national liberal party, founded in 2002. The party won 5 seats in National Assembly, in 2012 parliamentary elections.
