Eastern Partnership: Panel on security, defence policy and civil protection meets in Brussels

On 15 May, Brussels hosted the Eastern Partnership (EaP) Panel on Security, Common Security and Defence Policy and Civil Protection. The event gathered over 60 representatives from the EU’s Eastern Partner countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine), EU Member States, EU institutions and the Civil Society Forum.

The Panel was co-chaired by the European External Action Service (EEAS) and European Commission’s Directorate General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG ECHO).

The participants discussed the outcomes of the latest Eastern Partnership Summit and the Panel’s work ahead to realise the  “20 deliverables for 2020”. They were also briefed on progress in the field of EU Security and Defence, EU activities in the area of strategic communication and developments in civil protection, and discussed opportunities for further cooperation.
